Back to the Usual?

I’ve skipped over many of our activities lately. Not sure why, just haven’t felt motivated to put together the right prose and pictures to make it unique. That is part of the difficulty in maintaining a blog over a long period of time. The posts start to seem the same.

But here is Halloween, something that should continue to be entertaining until Evie is in middle school. This year started with coloring some of the unplanned harvest of last year. We had some decorative pumpkins that ended up in the compost pile last fall, so when the compost was used in the spring, we had volunteer pumpkins sprouting all over. Many pumpkins survived the squirrels and the heat to give us around ten for this year. Evie decided to have some fun and paint them with some interesting colors other than orange and black.

This was her first Halloween in public school, so we had to load up on the sugar for the school party.

I’m not into gummi bears on my cupcakes, but I guess that means I’m not 6 years old…. The costume party was as crazy as you’d think it would be. Or so I hear. I try not to overstim through avoiding those type of get togethers.

2014-10-31 at 14-46-03Our neighborhood does Halloween big time, and this year Evie was able to join the pumpkin carving event with many other kids. She’s getting better each year, but I sure hope the sticker phase is over soon.

2014-10-29 at 18-56-01The actual eve brought over friends from our home group. They are new to Nashville, so we had to indoctrinate them to the craziness of Richland-West End neighborhood trick-or-treating. Lions, Transformers, and Spider Girl, oh my!

A good time was had by all, aided by the discovery that American Born Moonshine and apple cider go very well together. We enjoyed visiting all the blinged out neighborhood homes and sampling the goodies on this cold Halloween night.

  1. Looks like you made some wonderful memories on Halloween. I loved Evie’s creative “Spidergirl” costume, break those stereotypes! 😜
